Energy IV Drip at Home
Also called: vitamin energy drip
The energy drip is a marketing name, not a medical term. It usually means a bag of fluid with B vitamins and one or more amino acids, which people request when they feel flat. Our partner clinic’s licensed nurse gives it at your home, hotel or office after a health check. It is not a treatment for fatigue itself.
What is usually in the bag
B-vitamin complex
Often the core of the bag, typically including thiamine, riboflavin, niacin and B6. These vitamins take part in how the body turns food into usable fuel.
Vitamin B12
Frequently added as a separate dose. Whether you need it at all is best answered by a blood test.
Amino acids
Depending on the clinic, this may be taurine, L-carnitine or a blended amino acid solution. Choices and amounts vary more here than in most drips.
Electrolyte fluid
A saline or balanced electrolyte bag carries the mix and adds some fluid, which matters if you have been sweating outdoors.
Of all the drips we arrange, this one has the least standard recipe: one clinic’s energy drip may be mostly B vitamins, another’s mostly amino acids, so ask what is in the bag before you agree.
Who tends to book it
- Shift workers coming off a run of nights sometimes book it on a day off, alongside a proper sleep plan.
- People in a demanding stretch at work, such as a project deadline or audit season, request it when they want a pause in the day without leaving the office.
- Parents of young children occasionally ask for it at home during a period of broken sleep.
- Someone who has felt tired for weeks may enquire too, and in that case the partner clinic will usually advise a doctor’s visit first.
Check with a doctor first
- Anyone with tiredness lasting several weeks, unexplained weight change, breathlessness or low mood, who should see a doctor to look for causes such as thyroid problems, anaemia, sleep disorders or depression.
- People with kidney or liver disease, because amino acids and some vitamins are processed by these organs.
- Those with heart failure or on a fluid restriction.
- People taking thyroid medicine or blood thinners, if L-carnitine is in the mix, until the clinician has checked for interactions.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women, unless their own doctor agrees.
How the visit goes
The nurse will ask how long you have felt tired and whether anything else has changed, such as weight, appetite or sleep. Answers that point to an underlying cause may lead to advice to see a doctor instead.
Ask the nurse to read out the bag’s contents before starting. Because energy blends vary, knowing exactly what you are getting helps you judge it afterwards and tell your own doctor.
Amino acids can occasionally cause a mild headache or a sense of warmth; mention it and the rate can be adjusted. Office visits are usually set up in a meeting room or a quiet corner.
How long it takes
Expect the infusion to take roughly 30 to 60 minutes, depending on bag size and the rate the clinician sets. Amino acid solutions are sometimes given more slowly. Add 15 to 20 minutes for the initial questions and vital signs, plus a short pause afterwards before you return to work or drive.
How often
Requests range from a single session to a regular slot. Because there is no good evidence that repeated energy drips change how tired someone feels over time, the clinician will question frequent bookings. Needing one often is itself a signal: persistent fatigue deserves a GP visit and basic blood tests rather than another bag.
What shapes the price
- Which amino acids are included and in what amount
- Whether a separate B12 dose is added
- Office, hotel or home address
- Booking for one person or a team
- Evening, weekend or short-notice timing

The UAE angle
Long commutes on Sheikh Zayed Road or Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, early starts and late finishes make tiredness a frequent complaint among UAE professionals, and summer heat adds to it for anyone working outdoors. An energy drip can be arranged at an office in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah during a lunch break, but the partner clinic will still screen for warning signs. Most residents have health insurance through work, so a GP visit is usually within reach and often the better first call.
Who may give an IV drip in the UAE
In the UAE an IV drip is a medical procedure, not a beauty treatment. It is given by clinicians licensed for it, working under a licensed health facility, after an assessment. Which authority licenses them depends on where the visit happens.
| Where | Licensing authority |
|---|---|
| Dubai | Dubai Health Authority (DHA) |
| Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra | Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) |
| Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah | Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) |
We pass bookings only to partner clinics licensed for the emirate of your visit. You are always welcome to ask the nurse for their name and licence details.

Questions people ask
Will an energy drip fix my tiredness?
It is not designed to, and no one can promise that. Some people say they feel refreshed after resting for an hour with a drip, but that is different from treating the cause. Ongoing fatigue often has a reason, such as low iron, an underactive thyroid, poor sleep or stress, and finding it needs a doctor.
What is the difference between this and a Myers’ cocktail?
A Myers’ cocktail follows a known pattern built around magnesium, calcium and vitamins. An energy drip usually leaves out magnesium and calcium and leans on B vitamins and amino acids instead. The two overlap, and exact contents depend on the clinic, so compare the actual ingredient lists before choosing.
Can I go straight back to work afterwards?
Most people can, as long as they feel well. The nurse will check you after removing the cannula and give aftercare advice, such as keeping the plaster on for a while and avoiding heavy lifting with that arm for the rest of the day. If you feel lightheaded, wait before driving.
Are there oral options?
Yes. B-complex tablets are widely available, and most amino acids come from protein in ordinary food. For tiredness, the foundations matter more than any supplement: regular sleep, enough fluid in the heat, meals with protein and iron, and some movement. A pharmacist can suggest a B-complex if your diet is limited.
