Glutathione IV Drip at Home
Glutathione is an antioxidant the body makes naturally from three amino acids. At home, a licensed nurse from a partner clinic usually gives it as a slow injection into the cannula once a hydration drip has run, or adds it to a small saline bag. The clinician reviews your history first, and IV Drip at Home never arranges it for skin lightening.
What is usually in the bag
Glutathione
The main component, a tripeptide the liver also produces. The clinician sets the dose, and it is pushed slowly to reduce the chance of flushing or a reaction.
Saline carrier
A small bag of normal saline that keeps the vein open and dilutes the glutathione, or runs first as a base drip before the push.
Vitamin C (optional)
Some clinics pair it with glutathione in the same visit. It goes in as a separate step, and only when the clinician agrees.
Some clinics give glutathione on its own as a push; others dilute it in a small bag. Strength and method depend on the partner clinic and on what the clinician finds at assessment.
Who tends to book it
- People who already take oral glutathione sometimes ask about the IV route after reading about it, and want a clinician’s view on whether it adds anything.
- Clients booking a hydration or vitamin drip at home occasionally request a glutathione push at the end of the same visit.
- Hotel guests who are used to it in their home country ask for it while travelling, and want to know how the UAE process differs.
- Anyone curious about antioxidants in general often starts with a consultation and lets the clinician decide whether it suits them.
Check with a doctor first
- Anyone with asthma: breathing difficulty has been reported with glutathione, so the clinician must know before any dose.
- People with a history of allergic reactions to injections, sulphur-containing compounds or earlier glutathione.
- Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, because safety data for IV use at these times is lacking.
- Anyone hoping to lighten their skin: we do not arrange glutathione for whitening, and products sold for that purpose may be unapproved.
- People having chemotherapy or other cancer treatment, unless their oncologist agrees in writing.
How the visit goes
The nurse asks about asthma, allergies and any skin products you use, then checks blood pressure and pulse. If a base drip is planned, that runs first. Glutathione is drawn up only after the clinician confirms, and the vial details are shown to you.
The push itself is slow, often a few minutes, through the cannula already in place. You stay seated or lying down. The nurse watches your breathing, skin and pulse during and after, and stops at once if you feel tight-chested or itchy.
Afterwards the cannula comes out and the site is pressed and covered. You are told which symptoms to report, such as wheeze, rash or swelling, and reminded to call 998 if breathing becomes difficult.
How long it takes
On its own, a glutathione push often takes 10 to 20 minutes including preparation and observation. When it follows a hydration drip, expect roughly 45 to 75 minutes in total. Timing depends on whether it is diluted in a bag, how your veins behave, and how long the nurse wants to watch you afterwards.
How often
Requests range from a single session to repeat visits, but there is no agreed schedule for IV glutathione and the evidence for repeated use is limited. The clinician considers your history and any earlier reactions before agreeing to another dose. If tiredness, skin changes or liver worries are behind the request, a doctor’s assessment and blood tests make more sense first.
What shapes the price
- Whether glutathione is a standalone push or added to another drip
- The dose the clinician selects
- Your emirate and distance from the partner clinic
- Evening, late-night or public-holiday timing
- Number of people booked at the same address

The UAE angle
Glutathione is heavily marketed online in the region, often alongside promises of fairer skin. UAE health authorities, like regulators in other countries, have warned the public about unapproved injectable products sold for skin lightening. That is why IV Drip at Home arranges glutathione only through licensed partner clinics, using products they source, and never as a whitening treatment. If someone offers you vials to bring to your appointment, decline; the nurse will not use them.
Who may give an IV drip in the UAE
In the UAE an IV drip is a medical procedure, not a beauty treatment. It is given by clinicians licensed for it, working under a licensed health facility, after an assessment. Which authority licenses them depends on where the visit happens.
| Where | Licensing authority |
|---|---|
| Dubai | Dubai Health Authority (DHA) |
| Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra | Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) |
| Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah | Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) |
We pass bookings only to partner clinics licensed for the emirate of your visit. You are always welcome to ask the nurse for their name and licence details.

Questions people ask
Can glutathione lighten my skin?
We do not arrange glutathione for skin lightening and cannot recommend it for that purpose. Evidence for IV use on skin tone is weak, and injectable lightening products sold outside clinics may be unapproved or contaminated. If you have pigmentation concerns, such as melasma or dark patches, a dermatologist can identify the cause and suggest treatments with a proper evidence base.
Why does the nurse ask about asthma?
Inhaled glutathione has been linked to bronchospasm in some people with asthma, and clinicians apply similar caution to other routes. Mentioning your asthma, inhaler use or past wheezing lets the clinician decide whether to proceed, reduce the dose or decline. If you use an inhaler, keep it within reach during the visit.
Is oral glutathione an alternative?
Glutathione is sold as capsules and liposomal liquids, and the body also makes its own from protein foods such as eggs, fish and legumes. How well oral forms are absorbed is still debated. A pharmacist or doctor can tell you whether a supplement suits you, and that route needs no cannula at all.
Can I bring my own glutathione vials?
No. The partner clinic’s nurse uses only products supplied and stored by the licensed clinic, so their origin and handling are known. Vials bought online or abroad may not be registered in the UAE, and their contents cannot be checked at your door. This rule protects you as much as the clinical team.
