Lipo MIC Injection at Home

Also called: lipo shot · MIC B12 injection · lipotropic injection

A lipo or MIC injection is a small intramuscular shot of methionine, inositol and choline, often combined with vitamin B12, that clinics market to people trying to lose weight. It does not burn fat, and the evidence behind it is limited. Through IV Drip at Home a partner physician must review you first; if approved, a licensed nurse gives the injection at home or in a hotel.

What is usually in the bag

  • Methionine

An essential amino acid found in eggs, fish and meat. Lipotropic marketing says it helps the liver process fats; human evidence for injections is thin.

  • Inositol

A compound the body also makes for itself. It is listed here as a lipotropic, though most inositol studies concern oral use in other conditions.

  • Choline

A nutrient involved in moving fat out of the liver. Most people get enough from foods such as eggs, and injections have not been shown to reduce body fat.

  • Vitamin B12 (often added)

Turns the shot into what clinics call Lipo-B or MIC-B12. Useful when a deficiency is proven; extra B12 without one adds nothing measurable.

Lipo shots come from compounding pharmacies and vary more than most products: some add L-carnitine, thiamine or other B vitamins. The partner physician checks what the clinic actually stocks and decides whether any version is appropriate for you.

Who tends to book it

  • Adults on a structured eating and exercise plan who have seen lipo shots advertised and want a doctor’s view before adding one.
  • People already receiving B12 injections for a proven deficiency who ask whether the lipotropic version makes any difference; usually it does not.
  • Residents comparing options after a weight plateau, who benefit from hearing plainly what the shot can and cannot do.
  • Some discuss it with the physician and decide to put the money towards a dietitian or gym membership instead, which is a sensible outcome.

Check with a doctor first

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding people; safety data in pregnancy are lacking.
  • Anyone with liver, heart or kidney disease, unless their own specialist is involved in the decision.
  • People with a bleeding disorder or taking blood thinners, because an intramuscular injection can cause a deep bruise.
  • Anyone allergic to cobalt or B12, or with Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy, where B12 in the cyanocobalamin form is avoided.
  • People with a current or past eating disorder, and anyone under 18.

How the visit goes

  1. The physician review covers your weight history, medicines, eating pattern and any prescription weight-loss treatment you already use. Expect to hear clearly that this shot is optional and that results cannot be promised.

  2. The nurse confirms the vial matches the order, cleans the skin and injects into the upper arm, thigh or buttock, depending on muscle size and your preference. Stinging during the injection is common; a slow push helps.

  3. You stay seated for a short observation period. Soreness, mild redness or a small lump at the site can last a day; spreading redness, heat or swelling should be reported to the clinic.

How long it takes

The injection itself takes under a minute. With the vitals check, paperwork and a short observation afterwards, most visits last about 15 to 30 minutes. The physician review before booking is a separate step and may take longer if recent blood tests are requested.

How often

Clinic menus often suggest weekly lipo shots, but no reliable evidence supports any schedule for weight loss. The physician decides whether a shot is reasonable at all and how often, and may simply say no. If your weight is not shifting despite effort, a doctor can check thyroid function, sleep, medicines and other causes.

What shapes the price

  • Physician review before booking
  • The formulation, including whether B12 or carnitine is added
  • A single shot, or a shot combined with another drip
  • Home, hotel or office address and emirate
  • Appointment timing

The UAE angle

Lipo shots are advertised by clinics and salons across the UAE, often bundled into slimming packages, and the claims are not always checked. Prescription weight-loss medicines, including well-known weekly injections, require a doctor’s prescription and follow-up and are never arranged through IV Drip at Home. In the hot months, walking and outdoor exercise move indoors for many residents; a realistic indoor activity plan is worth discussing with your doctor before spending on injections.

Who may give an IV drip in the UAE

In the UAE an IV drip is a medical procedure, not a beauty treatment. It is given by clinicians licensed for it, working under a licensed health facility, after an assessment. Which authority licenses them depends on where the visit happens.

We pass bookings only to partner clinics licensed for the emirate of your visit. You are always welcome to ask the nurse for their name and licence details.

Questions people ask

Does a lipo injection burn fat?

No evidence shows that it does. The idea is that methionine, inositol and choline help the liver handle fat, but the studies behind injections are small and old, and none show meaningful fat loss. Any change on the scales comes from the eating and activity plan around it.

Can you arrange prescription weight-loss injections instead?

No. Prescription weight-loss medicines need a doctor’s assessment, a prescription and regular follow-up, and that care sits with your own physician or a licensed clinic you choose. The nurse will only give the lipo shot named in the approved order, nothing else.

Where is it injected, and does it hurt?

Usually into the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, the outer thigh or the buttock. Many people feel a brief sting or ache, and the area may be tender for a day. Moving the arm or leg gently afterwards often helps. Tell the nurse if you have had problems with injections before.

Can I combine it with an IV drip on the same visit?

Sometimes, if the physician approves both and the ingredients do not overlap. Doubling up on B12 from a shot and a drip on the same day is rarely needed. Ask on WhatsApp when booking, so the combined order is reviewed together rather than added at the door.
